The short answer
Bangladesh's DPDT now accepts trademark filings through an online portal, and fees are paid through the government's A-Challan system before final submission. A 20 October 2026 practitioner article says manual acceptance "will end soon". Treat that as a warning and check dpdt.gov.bd.
The online portal
The source reports that DPDT online services include application (TM-1), search (TM-4) and renewal (TM-12). Access uses a user ID and password. The Rules allow electronic filing with government approval.
This note rests on a secondary source (TRW & Co., 20 October 2026) that cites a DPDT notice of July 2026 and an October 2026 online-application item. We could not open the DPDT pages themselves, so verify on the official site.
Paying through A-Challan
- Fees are paid through A-Challan before final submission.
- The system accepts only an eleven-digit local mobile number, so set up the profile without the country code.
- The portal is maintained on weekly holidays, and filings may be disrupted then.
- 15 per cent VAT applies on top of the official fees.
- Each class is a separate application with its own fee.
The fee amounts come from the Third Schedule to the Trademarks Rules (published 24 November 2021, effective 5 December 2021). Check the current schedule on the day you file.
Practical tips for applicants
Timing
Do not file on the last day
A portal outage on a weekly holiday can cost a filing date, especially at the end of a priority period.
Foreign clients
Local number problem
Foreign applicants should file through a local agent, who can use a local mobile number.
