The short answer
A Norwegian trademark registration is valid for 10 years from the filing date and can be renewed for 10 years at a time. A renewal request can be filed in the 6 months before and the 6 months after the end of the registration period, with an additional fee if it is late. Anyone can oppose within 3 months of publication. A registration can be revoked after 5 years without actual use in Norway. Norway is not in the EU, so an EU trademark does not cover it.
Trademark deadlines in Norway at a glance
These periods come from the Norwegian Trademarks Act (Act No. 8 of 26 March 2010), in the unofficial English translation published by the Norwegian Industrial Property Office (Patentstyret). The authentic Norwegian text prevails if there is a difference, so we check it before we file.

Who can register a trademark in Norway
Individuals and companies from any country can apply to Patentstyret. Norway has its own register and is outside the EU trademark system, so a Norwegian registration must be applied for separately.
No general local agent rule. The Act does not require a foreign applicant to appoint a Norwegian representative, but Patentstyret can send notifications to one if appointed (Section 77). Most foreign owners appoint one to receive notices and deadlines on time.
