The short answer
Under the Intellectual Property Act 2011 (as amended up to 2020), a trade mark is registered for 10 years from the filing date and renewed for consecutive periods of 10 years. A renewal can be made within the 12 months before expiry, and a late renewal fee applies after the expiry date. Opposition is open for 3 months from publication, and a mark not genuinely used for 3 continuous years can be removed.
